AFF Course

Accelerated free fall training program

AFF course (Accelerated Freefall) consists of seven levels of jump training. Every jump is done with your instructor, who is falling right next to you and is communicating with you during the jump via hand gestures. AFF training in Kiyv and Ukraine is the same as everywhere. Each new level challenges the student a bit more. The goal of the program is to give a full theoretical knowledge package and to teach the student to apply that knowledge in practice. Upon completion, the student becomes a fully self-sustained skydiver.

Advantages of the AFF course

The AFF course gives you a chance to quickly progress, one to two weeks time, from a novice freefaller to a full skydiver. From the very first jump you do it big-boy way - altitude 4200 meters, about a minute of freefall.

Experienced instructors from DZ Boro will be with you every step of the way during the course. They'll teach you to safely exit the aircraft, freefall in a stable belly-to-earth position, forward movement, turns, and even some flips. After parachute deployment, you will have radio guidance to safely get you to the LZ with a soft touchdown.

Upon completing the course, you will be admitted to do solo jumps.

AFF Levels

The journey to becoming a skydiver begins with some solid studying. Lectures will take about 6 hours and will include, but not limited to: parachute construction and design, emergency procedures in aircraft and under canopy, basic aerodynamics.

The AFF course is made up of seven levels, which increase in difficulty as you go. You advance to the next level only after you complete all the requirements of the previous one. Thus, the actual number of jumps per course varies per student.

Level 1

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing

Two instructors at your side: you control the critical parts - exit, stable freefall and altitude awareness, deploy by yourself

Landing: Pilot the canopy and land, PLF(parachute landing fall) optional

Level 2

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing

Two instructirs at your side: you control the critical parts - exit, stable freefall and altitude awareness, three practice pulls, 90 degree turns with instructors holding, forward movement, deployment

Landing: Within the main LZ

Level 3

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing

Two instructors at your side: Not so much as too learn new skills, but to solidify those learned. This is that exact jump where if you go stable and show all the required skills, the instructors will let go. The basic minimum is the same - stable exit, altitude awareness, stable freefall and deploy.

Landing: Recognizable landing pattern within the main LZ

Level 4

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing

One instructor at your side: The first jump where you are with just one instructor - that means you can start to control your body position more actively. Objectives are - stable exit, heading and altitude awareness, 90 degree turns, forward movement, deploy

Landing: Within 100 meters of intended target.

Level 5

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing
One instructor at your side: Most students by this time keep it together on exit, hold a stable freefall position, demonstrate altitude awareness, and is generally aware of his surroundings. Among the usual objectives is a left and right 360 turn. And, obviously, deploy at correct altitude.
Landing: Within 100 meters of intended target.

Level 6

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing

One instructor at your side: It's time to leave the comfort zone :)) During this level you will have to intentionally induce a tumbled, unstable falling, and recover from it. This is done by executing two flips. Another skill that you will learn is break away, which is an aggressive forward movement for a few seconds. That skill is crucial for separation from other skydivers in future jumps.

Landing: In target area with a decent flare.

Level 7

Ground drills: Emergency procedures, theory refresh, jump planing

One instructor at your side: AFF graduation. During this level, you will demonstrate a full solo jump to your instructor, as if he was not there. Key objectives are - nose dive exit, two flips, 360 turns, break away, deploy at given altitude.

Landing: Within 50 meters of target, good flare.

The course is completed when you receive your license for solo jumps.
